There’s a lot going on in the world of Toronto comedy. I can’t always cover it all. I know, bogus. Thankfully, there are other news outlets that occasionally cover the local scene. Here’s a selection of some of the top comedy news stories from the past month.
Jason Belleville, co-creator of Showcase’s critical darling Almost Heroes, has landed a big American deal with big American broadcaster ABC. The project, a collaboration with Scrubs scribe Bill Lawrence, is being described as a “Firefighter Comedy.” And the brains continue to drain…
The Canadian Comedy Awards & Festival not only obviously exist, but they are in fact awards. Award-winners were awarded awards and they are all listed on Torontoist. (Congrats to best Stand-up New comer Eric Andrews!)
Toronto based comic actor Aaron Abrams, writer and star of Young People Fucking, talked to The Toronto Star about what he does with his money. Apparently he doesn’t just burn it all on expensive acting equipment.
